Working with risks in P6

https://docs.oracle.com/cd/F25599_01/English/User_Guides/p6_eppm_user/index.htm

The risk register on the Risks page is the main area of the application where you identify and manage risks for a project. Additionally, you can add risks to a project from the EPS page, and add risks to a project and assign the risks to activities from the Activities page.

Once you add a risk to the risk register, you can perform further analysis on the risk and create one or more risk response plans which include activities to reduce the negative impact of the risk.

Adding costs to P6

Resource Loaded Costs (common, but lot to manage)

  • You can assign costs to resources. So when you assign a resource to an activity, the cost rolls up as that resource is used (hours x rate).
  • You can change their rate in resource dictionary.
  • Add resources on fly once they in the dictionary.
  • When resources are typically added, their rate is just multiplied by the duration.

Expenses added to activities (somewhat common)
  • You add an expense to an activity and reduce it over the course of the duration of the activity. Very manual.
  • You can front-load, back-load, or do uniform spread over activity.

Also good videos on YouTube that explain it.
