Continue to Work in P6 Professional When no Network Connection is Available – EPPM Only (TenSix)

Offline mode extends the Primavera Cache Service to allow users to continue working in P6 Professional while their internet connection is unavailable. When internet connectivity is restored, users can reconnect to the cloud and P6 Professional will synchronize the data in the local cache database with the Cloud Connect database. Users can also choose to work offline and reconnect to the cloud as and when it is convenient.

Offline mode is only available for Cloud Connect aliases with cache enabled and must be configured in P6 as well as in the P6 Professional Cloud Connect database alias.

Download Primavera Professional from Oracle Primavera Cloud

Download and Install Primavera Professional

Oracle Primavera Cloud provides the ability to download the Primavera Professional desktop application for a Windows or macOS operating system. The Get Oracle Primavera Professional page contains instructions for selecting your operating system and downloading the application installation file.

When downloading, installing, and using Primavera Professional, consider the following:

  • Access to Primavera Professional must be enabled before you can download and install it. See Configure Boundary Security Settings for more information (Oracle Primavera Cloud Help only).
  • For Windows systems, the application is available in .zip format. For macOS systems, the format is .dmg.
  • You must have the proper privileges to install applications on your operating system. If not, contact your administrator.
  • Primavera Professional saves the previously used project and program information, as well as the server name, to the user's local directory, the location of which varies by operating system. Additional information that is stored includes, but may not be limited to, cache files and cookies.
  • An activation code can be copied from the download page and pasted into Primavera Professional. The code ensures that your instance of Primavera Professional connects to the appropriate data center for your organization.
  • You can use the same credentials to log in to both Primavera Cloud and Primavera Professional.
  • If login fails, it means that a connection to the Primavera Cloud service cannot be established. This may be due to network connectivity issues or because you are behind a corporate firewall. You can configure proxy URL settings from the login screen by doing the following:
    • On Windows systems, press Alt to display the menu toolbar. Select Help, and then select Advanced Settings to configure proxy URL settings.
    • On macOS systems, the application menu is displayed at the top of the screen. Select Help, and then select Advanced Settings to configure proxy URL settings.

To download and install Primavera Professional:

  1. In Primavera Cloud, in the header, select your username.
  2. On the User menu, select Get Primavera Professional.
  3. Select the Copy icon next to the displayed activation code to copy the code to your clipboard.
  4. In the Select an operating system list, select your operating system.
  5. Select Download to begin the file download.
  6. When the download is complete, open the file to begin the installation process.
  7. After Primavera Professional is installed, paste the activation code into the field, and then select Continue.
  8. Enter your login credentials, and then select Sign In.

How to add an end date code for resources.

You can avoid pre-populating all of the code values and just add them on the fly. First create a Code called End Date in Summary & Settings (as described above). Do not create any code values under End Date (for now). Then add End Date as a column in your Resource List grid. When you go to assign a new end date to a particular resource, you can create a code value on-the-fly at the bottom of the popup dialog. Enter ‘29-Sep-20’ as the value name and ID. See below (I’m using Department as an example code.)

Change the company name in Cloud Adminstration

Manage Companies

The Manage Companies table in Primavera Administration enables you to manage companies for your applications. A company represents a logical container of users in Primavera Administration.

There are two types of companies:

  • Owner company: An owner company has been created for you. A single owner company is required by Primavera Administration. You can modify certain aspects of the owner company (including the company full name and the password policy). It is not possible to delete an owner company.
  • Partner companies: A partner company is a separate entity from the owner company that needs to access your applications. Examples of partner companies include vendors, resellers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other consultants. Partner companies are listed under the owner company on the left side of the Manage Companies page.

When you add a partner company in Primavera Administration, you can also assign one or more applications to the company. If you assign Primavera Unifier, the partner company is also created within that application.

Click the Manage Companies tab to view the Manage Companies table.
